Have you ever wondered about how it will feel to live in a cave like the Flintstones? Well, to actually live in a cave would be inconceivable in this modern day, but here’s an alternative: a modern, technologically advanced house built into a cave. Close enough, right? And it’s even better, since you will not only get the fascinating feeling of living in a cave, but also enjoy all the amenities that a modern era offers.
This amazing home is located in Festus, St. Louis, and is comprised of three levels. The exterior paint is grey, which blends quite nicely with the white-orange-grey of the rock around it. There are at least 37 glass doors on the façade of the house, and these doors also serve as windows, allowing much sunlight to go into the house and reduce the need of artificial lighting. The ground in front of the house is left quite barren, with only a few wild green plants and no decorative plants at all, but this makes the house feel even more like a prehistoric cave house, which is nice.
The inside of the house looks like a perfect blend between an ancient cave and a modern home. Most of the walls are bare stone of light brown color, and virtually all the furniture is wooden. When you walk through the front door, you will be entering a vast room that serves as living room, kitchen, dining room, and study. Closest the door are bookshelves with classic-looking armchairs and cabinet by them. A pot of green plants decorates this sitting area, making the room look fresh and lively. There is a billiard table near the sitting area. Opposite the sitting area is the study with a contemporary black desk, office chair, and sofa. The kitchen and dining area stands in the middle of the room and takes up most of the space. Pendant lamps hang from the ceiling.
As I’ve said before, this house is well equipped with all the things that a normal modern house has: electric light, current water and sewer system, and everything else. In addition, it has three dehumidifiers to maintain the quality of the air. These facilities guarantee that you will have a comfortable life inside this interesting cave house. See? You don’t have to be miserably primitive to feel the wonder of the ancient era.
