Most of us are not fortunate enough to be able to live in a skyscraper that gives it a bird’s-eye view of the city under. However, if you are the owner of the Raye Street House, you can actually enjoy that amazing elevated view without all the troubles of acquiring an actual skyscraper. Designed by Ryan Rhodes Designs and Jason Rhodes, this house stands at the peak of Queen Anne Hill in Seattle, Washington, and that strategic location—plus its tall build—is what provides it with its breathtaking view.
From the outside, this house looks rather imposing. It is big and tall, with gigantic glass windows and a staircase that leads to its front door. One part of the exterior is covered by horizontal wooden planks with warm brown color, and the other part is covered by grey stone. From the front of the house, it looks like there are three stories—the lowermost being the garage—but since the house follows the sloping contour of the ground, from the back of the house it looks as if there are only two stories. At the back of the house there is a spacious grass field.
The interior looks more contemporary compared to the somewhat natural look of the exterior. It is quite minimalistic, and added with the bright lighting, the rooms look clean, bright, and elegant. The walls are painted white, and the floor is black. There are accents of wood and cream-colored stone here and there, but otherwise the house is not very colorful. But it does not need to be colorful to look beautiful and cheerful, because it has such a wonderful view of the city. This house practically towers above the city, making the buildings there look small, just like how they look when you view them from a skyscraper. The main bedroom gets the best view since the floor-to-ceiling glass windows practically surround it from every side. But don’t worry, there are big windows in every room, so you can enjoy the view from anywhere in the house.
This house does not only offer amazing view and brilliant architecture, but it also provides you with all the comfort that you want. There are comfortable sitting rooms with cushy sofas and big screen TV, the kitchen is spacious and fitted in with all the necessary appliances, and the backyard has fresh-looking green plants and agrass field which can be a perfect playground or picnic ground. What more can you ask for?
